Job Description

Candidates for this position should have at least 2+ years of experience within the financial markets. A compelling interest in the financial markets and excellent written and oral communication skills are expected. A fast-paced and intense environment requires an aptitude for analyzing and interpreting complex information from multiple sources in a timely manner.

Duties include:

  • Daily Supervision of fixed income trading activity within WM Capital Markets to ensure compliance with firm and industry standards
  • Daily review of exception reports across all Fixed Income products; including but not limited to; FI best execution, markups, fair pricing, order handling, yield analysis, execution quality analysis
  • Analyze and interpret large, complex data sets
  • Oversee projects - design /execution of the implementation process, including business requirement gathering, communicating with stakeholders, process documentation, solutions design, UAT
  • Act in accordance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • Identify, report, and escalate risk issues, including any compliance issues
  • Assist in the development of policies/procedures designed to ensure compliance with all industry/regulatory requirements
  • Maintain close working relationships with trading, technology, operations and risk staff to ensure appropriate resolution of all issues related to the fixed income and equity businesses
  • Coordinate with business unit and systems to create reports necessary to monitor daily trade activity within WM Capital Markets
  • Ability to manage and complete projects simultaneously


Qualifications:

Skills

  • Proficient in, and understand the dynamics of, the fixed income markets and its various products Ability to analyze historical trade data, in terms of both market price and yield to ensure compliance with firm and industry trade execution standards
  • Knowledge of brokerage operations, compliance, and risk
  • Outstanding attention to detail and follow-up
  • Maintain solid judgment while acting in accordance with all regulatory requirements
  • Must be a service oriented, team-player eager to assist colleagues and members of the department at all levels
  • Self-motivated, innovative, hard-working individual, who can handle changing priorities and multiple tasks in a timely fashion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Diligent and meticulous individual with the ability to "think outside the box"
  • Strong time management/prioritization skills and solid judgment
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications with exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel (Advanced Excel knowledge: pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, SQL scripts and queries, developing macros) & PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, Trace, EMMA and other market pricing and valuation tools required
  • Series 7 & 63 is required within six months of hire


Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 57,000 and 110,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
