Position Summary

Under limited supervision, performs field and shop preventive maintenance inspections, minor and major repairs on medium/heavy vehicles, emergency vehicles/equipment, construction equipment, attachments, auxiliary equipment, and emergency generators; diagnoses and repairs all components and sub-systems, to include hydraulic and pneumatic; removes, repairs, rebuilds and/or replaces drive train and related components to manufacturer's specifications.

What You Will Do
  • Independently travels to perform repairs and maintenance to all vehicles, equipment attachments, and auxiliary equipment in the field and shop garages; performs repairs to engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic components, and other related sub-systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance services in accordance with the established Fleet Management program.
  • Provides assistance, guidance, and training to technicians and mechanics as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Performs diagnostics tests using electronic communication software, web-based, and loaded electronic programs on all major vehicle and equipment systems to accurately identify malfunctions and cause of failure; repairs and corrects malfunction(s).
  • Performs annual Department of Transportation (DOT) required inspections on vehicles or required equipment and repairs as needed per Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations (FMSCR).
  • Responsible for repairing HVAC and hydraulic system failures; responsible for repairing air and hydraulic brake systems.
  • Performs welding in the field and garage as required.
  • Inputs accurate and detailed descriptions of the day's work activities into the database; communicates clearly and regularly with supervisor and co-workers on all work-related topics.
  • Maintains a safe work area to prevent accidents/injuries.
  • Follows all guidelines outlined in the Fleet Management Standard Operating Procedures (FMSOP).
  • Pays particular attention to personnel, shop, and equipment safety, reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor(s).
  • Responds to on-call after-hours emergencies.
  • Maintains necessary records of all work performed using computerized fleet management system.
  • Maintains work area, tools and equipment in a clean and safe condition; responsible for reporting unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for the performance of the job.
What You Have

EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of six or more years of experience in Heavy Equipment and/or Truck repair required.
LICENSES:
  • Valid Class Valid Class B Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement required.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement required or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
CERTIFICATES:
  • Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) Certification required.
  • Forklift Operator Certificationrequired orability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
  • ASE Master Certification in Medium/Heavy Truck preferred.
  • Four or more currentAutomotive Services Excellence (ASE) Certifications in Medium/Heavy Truck:Gasoline Engines, Diesel Engines, Drive Train, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Electrical/Electronics Systems, or Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems, Truck Equipment Installation and Repair, Electrical/Electronic Systems Installation and Repair, and/or Auxiliary/Power Systems Installation and Repair, Obtained from a Professionally recognized Automotive or Heavy Equipment Organization required.
  • Note:Similar or related Manufacturer Certification(s) will be considered in lieu of the required ASE Certifications.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass post-job offer physical screening.
  • Must maintain licenses/certifications current.
