SUMMARY: Coordinates activities to ensure that District vehicles; including buses, are properly maintained. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: may be assigned related duties. Assures adequate maintenance and repair records are maintained for District vehicles and equipment. Prepares requested reports as needed. Special emphasis on the California Highway Patrol required school bus preventative maintenance (P.M.) and repairs. Performs all mechanical aspects of all district vehicles and power equipment. Schedules and performs maintenance on all District equipment, vehicles and school buses. Recommends equipment, vehicles, buses and materials replacement. Maintains School buses to be in compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations. Orders and supervises the receipt of all mechanical parts and shop supplies, and maintains inventory. Performs welding duties,_as needed. Maintains a safe and clean work environment. Repairs, adjusts and road tests the components of all District vehicles, buses, automotive and other power equipment. Prepares reports of preventative maintenance work performed on all district vehicles, buses and power equipment. Provides training for bus drivers when requested.

Requirements / Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Minimum of two years Trade School, or Heavy truck/bus experience Ability to pass District test(s) Ability to pass 100lb lift test License for certified mechanic Class A or B driver's license with air brake endorsement Welding certificate and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) -preferred License for air conditioning

Comments and Other Information

All offers of employment are subject to and contingent upon the completion of a criminal background check by the California Department of Justice, written and physical tests. Convictions of certain crimes, including but not limited to sex and narcotics offenses and serious and violent felonies, as specified in the California Education and Penal Codes, will bar employment with the District and this contract shall become null and void. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form as indicated on the I-9 document. All candidates sent for screening, physicals and lift 100 pounds test.
