HDR is hiring a Transportation Hydraulics Business Class Lead to join our Florida, Alabama, Mississippi transportation practice. The primary responsibilities will be to provide in-house leadership and guidance as it relates to transportation hydraulic services as well as delivering projects for clients related to transportation hydraulics work and growing the external visibility of HDR's Transportation Hydraulics Program. This role is responsible for supporting the overall vision and strategy for the Area. The Lead will function as a liaison and coordinator for staff across different offices and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects and proposals with innovation, applicable standards and timely schedules. The Lead will also be required to manage projects and provide production support on projects in addition to business development responsibilities. In this role, you will work closely with the project engineers to prepare both planning level and design level projects including drainage reports, and contract/bid documents; and work collaboratively with other design disciplines to provide integrated solutions and business development opportunities. This role reports to and works closely with theLocal Transportation Business Group. This role is responsible for identifying and executing, with teams of staff, the multiple HDR services needed by municipal and Department of Transportation operated programs throughout Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi as well as internal services including, but not limited to:

  • Fostering and strengthen relationships with transportation clients and professionals and work with teams to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Mentor and develop other transportation hydraulic professionals within HDR.
  • Helping local offices with recruiting and attracting highly qualified candidates to join HDR to grow and strengthen the practice.
  • Identifying stormwater professional organizations and conferences for staff participation
  • Organizing and disseminating industry best practices to project teams and sections of staff
  • Participating in local and statewide transportation hydraulic marketing initiatives
  • Leading transportation hydraulic design and planning projects
  • Understanding state stormwater regulations and manuals
  • Study and design of transportation related stormwater management:
  • Stormwater management facilities
    • Storm sewers
    • Bridge Hydraulics and scour analysis
    • Flooding investigations and analysis
    • Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI)
    • Best management practices (BMPs) for water quality treatment
    • Low Impact Development (LID)
    • Resiliency
  • Work to establish a quality culture and support innovative solutions to drive design and technical excellence.
  • Serve as a thought leader for area of expertise to elevate the capabilities of HDR and its professionals.
  • Represent HDR through participation in professional community to build HDR's reputation as a world-class provider of professional services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 year of drainage/hydraulics experience
  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years of experience
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
