GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Engineer II, Fluids is responsible for developing and maintaining hydraulics and pneumatics system designs under the direction of a senior engineer or manager. They lead the development of subsystems in larger design efforts or the complete electrical system development in smaller projects. They provide technical direction to junior engineers, designers, and drafters. Provides engineering support to internal and external customers and performs other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functional & Technical Skills
  • Translate requirements into a system architecture and detailed design.
  • Design and develop complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems for industrial machinery.
  • Validate designs through analysis and testing

Operational Excellence
  • Determine feasibility of modifying existing or designing new equipment considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Coordinate own design efforts as well as other engineers and designers to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining hydraulics and pneumatics system design.

Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite.
  • Lead design reviews consisting of multi-disciplined and cross functional team members.
  • Collaborate with others to clarify requirements and develop solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: MS in Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 3+ years' experience in the following:
  • Hydraulic system design integration for Open Circuit and Closed Circuit systems for industrial equipment.
  • HST system design and integration.
  • Pneumatic design and integration for railroad brake and auxiliary systems.
  • Directing individual or small teams of engineers and designers.

Licenses/Certifications: EIT and/or IFPS hydraulic and pneumatic certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge in Autodesk and ERP software
