7:00 am - 3:30 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

Mandatory Position

This position is designated as 'mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
The position is considered to be a fully functioning in painting. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work. This position will also have the opportunity to perform and learn another trade. Tasks are concentrated in painting, but may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in assigned buildings.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Essential Job Duties
The Facility Maintenance Technician - Building Trades (Building Envelope) performs under the direction of the Building Envelope supervisor.

Duties include:
  • Conduct maintenance, repair, replacement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components. These tasks require planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication.
  • Be able to perform waterproofing and water tests at various heights. Willing to learn new
    skills such as drone operation, IR scanning, and coating methods.
  • Implement methods and procedures of the relevant trades and maintenance techniques.
  • Enhance skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment specific to the trade.
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies and regulations
  • Position may serve as lead technician and/or crew leader, directing the work of others.
Other Work Responsibilities
  • Position is considered to be fully functioning in construction.
  • This position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience. Relevant trade experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Proficiency in adhering to applicable building codes.
  • Experience with university systems, Archibus, Kronos, Niner Talent and others or ability to gain proficiency.
  • Strong proficiency in English, including reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are preferred.
  • Proficient in computer usage, with knowledge of Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and an openness to learning new software programs.
  • Capability to cultivate a teamwork environment with co-workers, visitors, building occupants, and the broader campus community.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory. The FM Tech Mechanical Trades is responsible for operating assigned vehicles both on and off-campus and must maintain a valid driver's license upon appointment.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications
