INTREPID SEA, AIR & SPACE MUSEUM Legends is the official hospitality partner for the food service areas at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, a premier tourism destination in the heart of New York City. The partnership includes a full quick service restaurant, an outdoor seasonal kiosk serving beverages and snacks and a lighter fare concept aboard the ship serving subs, melts, flatbreads and grab and go items. THE ROLE As the Operations Manager you are responsible for assisting the General Manager in all aspects of the food and beverage operations. As an ambassador of Legends, you are responsible to ensure that all of our visitors have an outstanding experience in the outlets and positive relationships are developed with our partners at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. In this role you will be responsible for managing the daily shifts from beginning to end while positively engaging our guests and leading our team to succeed. Specific areas of oversight include greeting our guests, assisting in food production, executing events, training new associates, resolving guest complaints in a positive manner, adhering to safety and quality standards and the ability to perform all job duties in our concessions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for all opening and closing procedures of the food and beverage outlets
  • Able to plan and execute events from food ordering, production and event set up
  • Ensure compliance with company service standards, inventory management, and cash-handling procedures
  • Responsible for ordering products and maintaining accurate inventory levels for all locations
  • Direct and oversee schedules for all hourly staff while managing labor costs
  • Ability to "jump in" and support the team on all levels
  • Assist in hiring and training new employees
  • Ensure systems and SOPs are consistently followed on a daily basis
  • Preparing weekly scheduling and payroll
  • Conduct monthly associate meetings to address service standards and safety issues
  • Responsible for monthly safety reporting and audits
  • Perform other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required from time to time


QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • The ideal candidate will have minimum of four years of food and beverage and/or event management experience. Culinary and or purchasing experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized, with the ability to multi-task and delegate duties when necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Knowledge of food and beverage products for ordering procedures and inventories
  • Must be punctual and dependable
  • Catering and or Premium services experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with scheduling and payroll systems
  • Cash handling, reconciliation experience
  • Have a passion for food and beverage
  • Have problem solving/solution skills
  • Able to create and implement SOPs for FOH and BOH in concessions and catering
  • Knowledge and effective operations of retail POS, including procedures and policies
  • Ability to perform under pressure effectively for extensive periods while maintaining professionalism
  • Must be available to work some evening shifts as business needs require
  • Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures, and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and additional job-specific safety training
  • Must have or obtain NYC Food Protection Certificate
COMPENSATION $60,000 - $65,000 Competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
