FoodWIse (https://healthyliving.extension.wisc.edu/programs/foodwise/) advances healthy eating habits, active lifestyles and healthy community environments for families with limited incomes through nutrition education at the individual, community and systems levels. FoodWIse is federally funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) grants.

About the position:

The Bilingual Nutrition Educator is a member of the Marathon, Portage, Wood, and Clark County FoodWIse team. Bilingual Nutrition Educators are peer educators who co-learn with community members and adapt teaching to honor cultures and experiences. Bilingual Nutrition Educators work collaboratively with community partners and engage people from the diverse communities of Wisconsin to adopt healthy food and physical activity habits. Delivers research-based educational programs to support and empower people where they live and work. Provides general support on public issues for the benefit of the community. • 45% Teaches culturally relevant educational programs to adults and youth using learner-centered activities and lessons

Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Spanish speaking, writing and comprehension skills; knowledge and understanding of Hispanic/Latino culture. Language skills will be evaluated.
- Ability to teach interactive lessons to youth and/or adults in group settings
- Work, volunteer or life experience with people or groups with limited income
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments
- Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
- Demonstrated commitment to Extension's values of equity and social justice to support opportunities and outcomes for youth, families, and communities
- Must be able to carry educational equipment, up to 25 lbs.

Preferred:
- Volunteer or work experience related to food and nutrition education
- Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality work
- Ability to work cooperatively with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $47,602 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
This is a part-time position, which means actual salary earned will be prorated based on FTE (full-time status). At 50% FTE, the person hired can expect to receive 50% of the advertised salary.

Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and savings accounts; retirement benefits. Additional Information:
- The primary accountability relationship for this position is the Area 7 (Marathon, Portage, Wood and Clark Counties) FoodWIse Nutrition Administrator for supervision, compensation and benefits, and performance reviews.

- This position's primary programming focus is Clark County however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.

- It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Applicants are required to: Have a valid driver's license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization.

- This position may be required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet the program needs and priorities of the communities served.

- Participate in low impact physical activity exercises, dependent on local program delivery.
