Description of Position: This position is located in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia and reports to the Deputy Assistant Administrator. The Program Officer areas of responsibilities include strategic communications, digital outreach, legislative outreach and internal communications. The position supports public engagement priorities, provides guidance on communications activities for all Bureau managed programs and provides guidance to leadership on matters concerning messaging and strategic communications. The position facilitates Bureau responses to queries from elected officials, other government agencies, community organizations, other donors and the public about activities that could affect the public view of the Agency or prompt Congressional action. The Program Officer creates digital content for social media channels, blog, and podcast and serves as primary point of contact for the USAID Internal Communications team and responds to internal requests for content. This position has the option to two, two (2) year extensions. The position is telework eligible.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (FS-04) of this position. Specialized experience includes:
- Experience developing strategic communications strategies;
- Experience drafting speeches, blogs, op-eds, and fact sheets; style and copy editing; and
- Experience in the development and execution of social media campaigns, event management, media relations, legislative outreach
- Strong communications skills and availability to work in a team
- Relevant academic experience and minimum five years working in public relations or communications
