Job Duties

To provide part-time psychological services including Competency to Stand Trial and Sanity at the Time of Offense evaluations, Analysis of Risk reports, or other psychological/forensic evaluations to meet the demands of court ordered inpatient mental health evaluations. The position is intended to supplement existing psychological services provided by the Psychology Department.

Considerable knowledge of principles and methods of psychological service delivery including psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, behavioral programming/research and treatment modalities, and program designs and evaluation. Qualified and able to conduct Commissioner-appointed forensic evaluations at various State facilities. Demonstrated ability to communicate with other disciplines, patients, families and outside agencies. Must possess basic computer skills and proficiency in report writing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university or school of psychology
• Considerable professional level clinical experience with at least some autonomous functioning in a mental health setting with a broad program of psychological treatment
• Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Previous experience with the seriously mentally ill population
• Completion of Basic Evaluation Training offered by the University of Virginia ILPPP

Additional Considerations

• Training and experience with forensic patients, especially pretrial defendants
