Job Summary

The Executive Director of Development & Major Gifts is a key strategic member of the Foundation's Leadership team and oversees a team of development professionals, fundraising programs, and collaborates with the Foundation's leadership on setting strategic goals for business planning. Under the direction of the VP of Development and Donor Relations, the Executive Director develops creative and innovative strategies to identify, cultivate, track, solicit and steward individuals, corporations, and foundations capable of making gifts of $100,000 + to the Foundation. Prepares and presents major proposals, solicitation letters, and other materials for key donors; ensures that they are persuasively communicated to target audiences and are consistent with the efforts of others to strategically position the hospital in the marketplace. Collaborates with members of the Foundation team to plan prospect management strategies and moves management while placing the prospect's best interests first. Works with members of the TGHF Board and other volunteers to identify and cultivate prospects and host events. Shares responsibility for the strategic planning, development and implementation of the Foundation's fundraising goals. Works and travels as necessary to successfully meet established goals and objectives. This position also supervises a team of Development Officer(s) which may include various levels of Director(s) of Development (Sr Dir, Dir, Asst Dir, Assoc Dir) as well as support positions for the team (may include Coordinator, Annual Gifts, Stewardship, etc.). Other projects and duties as assigned.

This role will directly support our East Coast area for regional focus, prospective candidates must live in Palm Beach and/or surrounding area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or other related field.
  • At least seven (7) years of progressive growth in major gift experience and a minimum of three (3) years of leadership.
  • CFRE preferred.
  • Sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of fundraising best practices and proven track record of successful leadership.
  • Experience with Capital Campaigns.
  • Broad development knowledge and experience in major gifts, planned giving, grants and annual funds.
  • Ability to plan strategically and manage multiple activities.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive relationships with donors, prospective donors, hospital and Foundation Board members and Foundation staff.
