Minimum Qualifications

Requires are least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One year of experience in supervisory role
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Georgia Center employees, guests,and vendors


Position Summary

The Front Office Supervisor will assist the Front Desk Manager in leading a team of young professionals in concierge, transportation, and bellhop services to provide exceptional customer service to guests, visitors, and employees of the Georgia Center. This position's focus is to train team members and hold them accountable for executing the high service standards they are taught. The supervisor will assist the manager by providing impute for: scheduling, coaching, and reviewing the team. The Concierge Department is often the first and last contact that a guest has with the University of Georgia and is vital to creating a lasting positive impression.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Experience working at a hotel front desk, as well as management and leadership experience.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong computer skills .

Assist Front Office Manager with supervising departmental operations:
  • Lead shifts.
  • Be familiar with Georgia Center departments and personnel.
  • Be a resource to help other Georgia Center and UGA departments with the tools at the Concierge's disposal.
  • Respond professionally to requests and concerns.
  • Train new employees according to departmental standards.
  • Ensure that staff maintain quality of service standards.
  • Report personnel issues and concerns to Front Office Manager, i.e. performance management, attendance, appropriate professional behaviors, recognition, and rewards.
  • Assist in preparing the Concierge team for upcoming events and activities.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with Georgia Center employees, guests, and vendors.

Assist Front Office Manager in recruiting and training:
  • Pre-screen new hire candidates and provide Front Office Manager with notes and suggestions on who to hire.
  • Recruit and train a small team that will be responsible for training all new hires.
  • Oversee the training team to ensure the new hires are trained to the department's standards.
  • Hold Student Assistants and Senior Assistants accountable for executing the service standards set by the department.

Assist Front Office Manager in managing the department's finances:
  • Provide impute on scheduling employees according to departmental standards.
  • Track daily and weekly labor variances.
  • Assist Front Office Manager with maximizing labor efficiency to meet budget guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and resources for staff and guests.
  • Track Market inventory and report low inventory to Front Office Manager.
  • Ensure The Market is well-stocked and attractively presented on each shift supervised.

Assist Front Office Manager with managing transportation services:
  • Ensure shuttle operations run smoothly.
  • Analyze upcoming shuttle needs and notify the Manager if additional shuttles will be needed.
  • Track shuttle, and bicycle usage and condition logs and report concerns and issues to Concierge Manager.

Assist Front Office Manager with administrative tasks:
  • Create a weekly calendar of events for UGA and Athens to share with the Hotel Division and guests.
  • Assist in creating policies, procedures, and systems to keep the Concierge department at peak performance.
