Assist the Grants & Projects Coordinator with program logistics, communications, and other activities. Work with vendors to plan and execute program logistics - including organizing catered meal pickup and delivery, and planning other meals, lodging, travel logistics, and program activities. Collaborate with relevant team members to ensure smooth program logistics and participant engagement.

Serve as a point of contact for international program participants regarding logistics of day-to-day activities including driving participants locally.

Position Summary

This position will work with the Director of International Initiatives, Grants & Project Coordinator, and OGE Business Office on program logistics, preparing payments for processing, interacting with program participants, and some travel. The International Initiative staff will be responsible for the 24 Mandela Washington Fellowship Program participants from June 12, 2024 - July 30, 2024. This position will be 25-30 hours per week. The program assistant may work some evenings and some weekends.

The Program Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the successful execution of the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship program at the University of Georgia. This intensive executive-style program aims to empower young African leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to take on leadership roles in their respective sectors and communities in Africa.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Driving experience. Strong verbal communication skills are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Experience with project and event management, program logistics, planning, and execution.

Physical Demands

Stand or sit at a desk for long periods of time. Set up/clean-up of catered meals. Lift up to 35 pounds. Driving participants in a 12-passenger van.
