Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Manages both front of house and back of house staff schedules, payrolls, and team training.
  • Assists with budget planning and forecasting for your operation.
  • Manages food service preparation, menus, budgets, and point of sale system.
  • Works with the culinary and management teams in creating menus and providing high quality food.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with guests.
  • Oversees the hiring, onboarding, and training, of all staff at assigned location.
  • Develops a plan to provide and monitor excellent customer service from all members of the team.
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are being met daily.
  • Works with campus leaders to market the operations effectively.
  • Sets personal and professional development goals and provides regular updates on your progress.
  • Provides guidance and plans to promote overall operational effectiveness.
  • Communicates effectively to multiple audiences.
General Responsibilities
  • Manages and oversees dining operation and activities.
  • Trains staff in methods and procedures of customer service, food preparation, and proper use of equipment.
  • Oversees staff responsible for placing food orders and ensures the dining facility has the necessary resources and supplies to operate effectively.
  • Conducts regular inspections of the kitchen, dining room, and other food service facilities to ensure compliance with government, safety, and sanitation requirements.
  • Works with Food Services Leader(s) to prepare short and long-term fiscal budgets.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in culinary, hospitality, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years of food service experience
Preferred
  • 1 year of management experience in relevant field
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required
  • Food Safety (ServSafe) certification within 180 days from the date of hire
SKILLS

Required
  • Ability to lead/manage others.
  • Demonstrates customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents.
  • Ability to inspire staff and deliver constructive feedback.
  • Knowledge of professional cooking principles
  • Ability to learn and use point of sale systems, and other university software such as TIME and FIS
  • Knowledge of current applicable food codes and other relevant safety regulations.
Working Conditions / Demands

This position requires tasks typically associated with back-of-the-house food service work. It involves periods of both sedentary work and times of frequent movement about the workspace. Using commercial kitchen equipment and tools, moving supplies weighing 15 - 30 pounds, and effective communication skills are necessary. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

Salary is based on experience.

Work Hours

Shift times vary according to business needs and will include weekdays as well as weekends (as necessary) to meet operational demands.

Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate specials meals and events.
