What You Will Do
  • Demonstrates successful patient/ technical imaging skills by producing a variety of radiological exams while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
  • The Radiology GXMO will work within the scope as defined by the Ohio Department of Health which includes general x-ray where a registered technologist is on-site within the radiology department.
  • The Radiology GXMO will not independently perform fluoroscopic procedures, portable x-ray exams, or surgical exams.
  • Follows hospital and department guidelines for patient identification and safety.
  • Provides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.
  • Operates x-ray equipment, positions patients, performs and documents patient assessment as relates to the radiology encounter.
  • Assists and prepares radiology patient for exam. Escorts/transports patient as appropriate.
  • Prepares radiology room for exam and ensures appropriate cleaning of equipment between patients.
  • Accesses and utilizes computer applications as needed to ensure proper billing, image review/transfer, patient record (HIS/RIS/PACS).
  • Maintains GXMO licensure and continuing education requirements as applicable.
  • Maintains a responsibility for self-development with support for the learning environment of the hospital and the department of Radiology.
  • Collaborates effectively with co-workers and staff to ensure that assignments are complete in a professional and effective manner.
  • Displays a commitment to the organizations mission and values.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.


Qualifications:
Education
  • Other Accredited Program Complete a GXMO didactic educational program accredited by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), or be a student enrolled in final year of a radiologic technology program of study. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Clear knowledge of x-ray equipment, computers, PACS, electronic medical record, and the radiology information system. (Required proficiency)
  • Must demonstrate effective organizational and oral communication skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Able to communicate effectively and interact with a diverse population across multi-generations. (Required proficiency)
  • Excellent customer service skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Able to organize and adjust to changing workflows and patient care needs. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire (Required)
  • General X-ray Machine Operator (GXMO) license with Ohio Department of Health (Required) and
  • After graduation, R.T., from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. (Required) and
  • After graduation, licensed by the state of Ohio (Required)
