Job Summary

The Gift Shop Manager will oversee the operation of the Gift Shop located on the campus of Tampa General Hospital under the general supervision of the Director of Volunteer Programs. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Essential Functions:

  • Creates and drives the implementation of organizational and gift shop programs by developing action plans and directly motivating and instructing the team to implement them to meet operational, organizational objectives, and long-range goals.
  • Manage all gift shop business operation: including but not limited to: revenue, expenses, inventory controls, departmental purchases, bookkeeping, merchandising, and marketing.
  • Motivates and inspires team members to achieve key business indicators, productivity measures, and metrics by developing a high performing team.
  • Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates appropriate responsibilities and practices to gift shop team members and volunteers to ensure smooth flow of operations.
  • Manage product knowledge and oversee gift shop team member and volunteer training and development.
  • Interviews all potential gift shop team members and volunteers to assess appropriateness for functioning in a retail environment, including their probable success in interacting with customers, and in mastering computer and paper work associated with successful gift shop operations.
  • Responsible for profitable and cost-effective store operations to maximize financial operations and customer service.
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial reports including an annual budget.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Stay in compliance with applicable laws and governing bodies, operating and safety procedures and controls and provide documentation as necessary.
  • Organize plans and oversee displays of merchandise in accordance with the buying audience.
  • Changes displays regularly.
  • Prepare weekly staff schedules to ensure proper floor coverage, in relation to promotions and holidays.
  • Anticipate and plan for long term staffing needs trending seasonally. Oversee, create content, and update Gift Shop SharePoint site regularly to drive store promotions and customer engagement.
  • Perform other duties as called for to ensure the overall efficiency of the store and position.


Qualifications

  • High School diploma and/or GED.
  • At least two years experience in the retail industry.
  • Experience working with volunteers or in a volunteer setting.
  • Experience in a retail setting.
