Responsibilities

This position serves as a Grants Specialist for the Department of Psychology performing activities associated with administering, tracking and reporting, and assisting principal investigators with pre- and post-award processes of federal, state, local and private awards.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring of contract/grant activity for various funding sources (federal, state, local, and private).
  • Initiating approval and audit of fiscal activities for contract and grant management of the Psychology Department, including pre- and post- award activities and proposal development.
  • Interpreting agency/solicitation guidelines to grantees to assist in proposal development, and the award stage.
  • Interpreting and providing guidance for federal, university, and college policies and monitoring all sponsored project activities for compliance.
  • Reviewing and analyzing fiscal transactions and reconciliation reports on a monthly basis, and providing monthly budget summary to assigned PIs.
  • Organizing and communicating personnel appointments and verifying effort certification is accurately reflected for assigned PI's and personnel employed on assigned projects.
  • Supporting continuity of operations within the grants team by providing redundancy on essential project related tasks.
  • Assisting the Grants Administrator for the department in training new staff and assisting with the development and recommendation of policies and procedures related to grants activities.
The Grants Specialist plays a crucial role in the success of the Department of Psychology. By serving in this position, you will contribute directly to the success of the academic teaching and research efforts at Florida State University.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications include:

A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years.)
  • This position requires successful completion of the eSPEAR Certification or ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire. https://www.research.fsu.edu/research-offices/sra/resources/training/espear/ .

Anticipated Salary Range

Minimum starting salary for the position is $48,000. Anticipated starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
