Job Description:
As a Software Engineering Group Lead, you will work with an advanced agile team creating and updating cloud-native software to drive data transformation and intelligence automation for those protecting our nation. Our multi-discipline teams work in concert with end users, the fielding team, and collaborative advanced systems to transform the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance ecosystem into a truly distributed and efficient solution set across the DoD.

Essential Functions:
- NOTE: This position is approximately 20% Management, 80% technical deveoper.
- Manage a small team of 5-8 Software Engineers, staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, planning and training employees. Coach, counsel, monitor, and appraise staff performance.
- As a subject matter expert, provide technical leadership, assistance, and mentorship to junior team members
- Design, develop, and test software applications in a high-performance computing environment
- Optimize code for performance, scalability, and efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software components into a fully functional software system
- Debug and troubleshoot software systems to identify and fix performance bottlenecks
- Implement and adhere to best practices in secure coding to protect sensitive data
- Assist with quality assurance procedures, including code reviews and performance testing
- Document software and keep detailed records of code changes and revisions
- Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Knowledgeable in the full software development lifecycle from requirements elicitation to deployment
- Use meticulous organization of open software tasks
- Thorough understanding of software engineering principles and industry best practices, including Agile development
- Familiar with source code repositories such as GitLab, etc.
- Familiar with agile development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
- Knowledgeable with UML design
- Use Microsoft Office products
- Up to 10% travel may be required
Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Current CompTIA Security+ Certification or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire
- 7-9 years of experience in software development with a focus on C/C++, C#, or Java programming and high-performance computing
- 5 years experience with C/C++, C#, Java, Python, or Go programming languages
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Containerization Technologies (Kubernetes, RKE-2, K3S, Docker Compose, Docker, Containerd, Podman)
- Helm (Kubernetes Package Manager)
- Operating Systems (e.g., Rocky Linux, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
