The Host Based Security System (HBSS) System Administrator will facilitate the delivery of HBSS Subject Matter Expert (SME) tracking/artifacts/documentation to the HBSS Overarching Project Management to the Team Lead or designated representative in support of Defensive Cyber Operation for the US Navy at Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command in Suffolk VA.

The Host Based Security System (HBSS) System Administrator will facilitate the delivery of HBSS Subject Matter Expert (SME) tracking/artifacts/documentation to the HBSS Overarching Project Management to the Team Lead or designated representative in support of Defensive Cyber Operation for the US Navy at Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command in Suffolk VA.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain the Navy Assured Compliance Assessment System (ACAS) collection system server and systems configurations (hardware and software) to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Administers server-based systems, security devices, distributed applications, network storage, and messaging, and performs systems monitoring.
- Consults on network, application, and customer service issues to support computer systems' security and sustainability.
- Troubleshoot HBSS product server issues and outages.
- Administer policy catalog management.
- Coordinate ASI details and planning as needed.
- Maintain system patches.
- Maintain O/S, SQL, and HBSS STIG compliance.
- Develop, test, monitor, and work with HBSS Support Admins on internal TTPs/SOPs.
- Resolve ePO server (O/S, ePO, or SQL) issues.
- Maintain the ePO server (automated tasks, task scheduler, database maintenance tasks, etc.).
- Maintain a neat, secure, and orderly facility.
- Complete annual company and customer training requirements according to established policies and procedures, as required.
- Record labor hours daily in an online corporate system.
- Travel up to 10% as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 10+ years of IT experience.
- Experience in working with the McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention System and Data Loss Prevention Endpoint products.
- 7+ years administrating servers.
- 3+ years administrating ePO or Certified McAfee Security Specialist (CMSS) certification in one of the following areas:
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator.
- McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention System.
- Current CompTIA Security+ required to start.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
- General Service (GENSER)/Secret clearance required to start.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Solid understanding of Microsoft operating systems and networking.
- Knowledge and experience in working with Firewalls desired.
- Knowledge and experience in working with Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) desired.
- Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) signature development experience desired.
- Understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently.
- Self-starter: identify issues and create an action plan for resolution.
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to concurrently manage multiple deadline-driven tasks and projects.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as requested.
- Flexible on Shift work. 7 am-3:30 pm OR 3:30 pm-12:00 am Eastern Standard Time.
