The Head of Medicinal Chemistry/Drug Discovery will be part of the AIDD team responsible for establishing and managing the medicinal chemistry & drug design project portfolio through our drug discovery site at Billerica, MA. You will be responsible for: Defining and executing medicinal chemistry projects in multimodal discovery and development that address high-priority therapeutic areas for pharmaceutical partners within competitive timelines.Managing the progression from hit finding for small molecule modalities, including inhibitors, degraders, and payloads for antibody-drug conjugates in oncology and immunology. This ensures a strategic approach to pipeline development.Leading the medicinal chemistry R&D portfolio across multiple pharmacology or technological domains to maintain a competitive edge and differentiation for our approaches.Build strategy to leverage the larger MilliporeSigma chemistry portfolio to drive efficiency and differentiation for our drug discovery programs.Leading cross-functional project teams that are crucial for integrating diverse expertise and ensuring the development of drug candidates.Engaging in both industry-industry collaborations and industry-academia consortia to drive publications and to stay abreast of innovation and evolving needs of large pharmaceutical companies by publishing research results. Who you are:PhD degree in chemistry with at least 10 years of industrial experience in pharma/ biotech companies, preferably in an international context; deep understanding of innovation trends in medicinal chemistry across various small molecule modalities.Demonstrated portfolio impact in delivering clinical candidates, with a proven scientific track record supported by peer reviewed publications & patents; experience in defining project strategies & work plans.Demonstrated high degree of leadership skills, experienced in people management and in leading multidisciplinary & international matrix teams. You are capable of building highly efficient teams with the ability to motivate and develop team members.Excellent communication skills, and ability to present and communicate at executive level. Location: On-site role with flexibility for remote working as needed for the role responsibilities
