We are looking for a Head of Patient Advocacy and Alliance Development with strong leadership skills to inspire, lead, coach, develop, and motivate teams to drive impact. This role is part of our U.S. Corporate Affairs team, based in our U.S. Headquarters Office in Smyrna, GA.

About the role

You will lead the development and execution of plans to build UCB's leadership profile and impact with key patient and other non-government stakeholders in the U.S. Your focus will enable UCB's successful leadership in therapeutic areas of focus including Immunology, Neurology, and Rare Diseases. You will contribute to the development of the holistic company philosophy around patient advocacy engagement and underscore UCB's patient-centric mission.

Who you'll work with

You will play an integral role in supporting the overall success of UCB by engaging with key external stakeholders, including patient advocacy organizations, healthcare and health policy organizations. You will enable effective patient partnerships to develop insights and further our leadership and sustainable access to our products for the patients who need them.

You will partner with UCB's U.S. business leads and Global Patient/External Engagement colleagues to advance the science of patient activation, empowerment, and confidence. By employing innovative approaches, you will improve point-of-care experiences, access to affordable care, and patient health outcomes. You will develop and implement strategies to engage with external stakeholders across ecosystems to gain a deep understanding of patient needs, challenges, interests, and opportunities. Additionally, you will build strong internal and external networks and work effectively in a matrixed environment to help guide strategy and ensure patient insights are considered and integrated.

What you'll do
  • Lead and manage a nationally focused and regionally based team responsible for national, regional, and local level engagement.
  • Establish and continuously strengthen advocacy and partnering relationships with national and community organizations through thoughtful engagement and alignment on company priorities.
  • Collaborate with external partners to drive strategic collaborations across a broad set of healthcare stakeholders to drive awareness and broaden understanding of the fields of neurology, immunology, and rare diseases. Solicit support to drive the field forward and gather insights to inform strategic planning and actions.
  • Establish strategic relationships; develop and implement advocacy and alliance plans (nationally, regionally, and locally) to support continued impact. Establish and implement programs that are aligned with and advance UCB's Patient Value Strategy.
  • Lead the co-development and execution of the U.S. advocacy strategy, including defining, standardizing, and executing best practices for engaging patients, caregivers, communities, and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities and tailor solutions for internal and external projects within a therapeutic area or above brands to optimize patient outcomes (e.g., coalitions).
  • Ensure compliant and transparent stakeholder engagement and embrace company principles to demonstrate commitment to patients and caregivers.

Mitigate areas of risk by monitoring key issues and trends and develop strategies to protect and enhance the company's reputation.

I nterested? For this role we're looking for the following education, experience and skills

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree required. JD, PharmD, MPH, or MBA preferred.
  • 10 years of pharmaceutical experience in a healthcare, patient advocacy, or related healthcare consulting / agency work.
  • 5 years' experience designing and implementing partnerships with patient groups and other non-government stakeholders in the US to drive success of in-line business and pipeline assets from development through to commercialization.
  • 5 years' experience generating content to support advocacy engagement across multiple channels, including campaigns, advocacy messaging, social media, and policy briefings.
  • 1-3 years' experience working on issues related to access or reimbursement by federal healthcare programs, commercial payers/providers, and managed care organizations

Preferred:
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the current US healthcare advocacy and alliance landscape as it relates to the biopharmaceutical community.
  • Proven ability in developing and executing strategies to build company profile and impact with patient and other non-government stakeholders in the US.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment including managing multiple projects with on time and budget completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to process complex information and summarize it concisely in writing and/or verbally in a professional manner and in a time sensitive environment as required.


This positions reasonably anticipated base salary range is $177,200 to $232,575 per year. The actual salary offered

will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related

knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
