The Healthcare Preparedness Training and Exercise Coordinator position in the Bureau of Health Emergency Management works with internal and external partners and emergency response agencies to create, conduct, and analyze training classes and exercises to fill training gaps.

The Healthcare Preparedness Training and Exercise Coordinator position in the Bureau of Health Emergency Management works with internal and external partners and emergency response agencies to create, conduct, and analyze training classes and exercises to fill training gaps; Provide outreach to planning partners at the federal, state, tribal, border, and local levels to ensure integration of competency based education and training related to preparing for health emergencies throughout New Mexico; and develop annual and multi-year training plans based upon lessons learned and evolving healthcare needs through continuous engagement with emergency response agencies, hospitals, and other healthcare partners.

State of New Mexico Department of Health, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) as well as internal and external stakeholders and partners.

Ideal Candidate

Training/Education Experience. HSEEP Certified. Healthcare/Hospital Experience. EMS, and/or Fire Service Experience. Familiarization training and exercise requirements for Center for Medicare and Medicaid Studies (CMS) and healthcare accreditation organizations (Joint Commission, DNV, etc.). Familiarization with computerized training software such as TRAIN.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in training, staff development, designing courses, and/or producing instructional aids/materials. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must Obtain Department Operations Center (DOC) certification post employment.
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Must obtain a defensive driving certification.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds may be required. Some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required. This position also may require periodic after-hours work, statewide and out of state travel, staffing the Department Operations Center during emergencies with long hours, exercises and possible emergency deployment.
