Job Duties

Position presides over all hearings for inmate disciplinary reports. Receives and processes all forms related to disciplinary actions. Monitors the penalty offer process. Oversees, implements and administers all procedures related to disciplinary hearings and inmate disciplinary actions. Promotes positive inmate behavior by contributing consequences to negative behavior. Provides staff with an avenue for proper inmate management. Maintains compliance with Department policy and Division and Institutional operating procedures.

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of VA DOC policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to obtain and evaluate information and evidence to conduct a fair and impartial hearing, make a sound and impartial finding of guilt or innocence and to explain charges, rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to synthesize data and conduct hearings in a fair and impartial manner and to document results of the disciplinary hearings. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply policies and guidelines, Demonstrated ability to train staff and inmates in the application of disciplinary process. Skilled in Microsoft Office Products.

Additional Considerations

Advance knowledge in Communication, Business, Administration, Social Sciences, or Criminal Justice or equivalent experience working in Corrections or a related field. Considerable knowledge of VADOC Inmate Discipline Procedure. Demonstrated ability to speak, write and read Spanish.
