Job Summary

Assure that all construction equipment works efficiently and safely. Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, graders, and conveyors, used in construction.

Key Responsibilities
\n
    \n
  • Use appropriate hand (i.e. screwdriver, drill) and power tools (i.e. air drill, impact wrench) to repair, replace or perform maintenance on equipment.
  • \n
  • Receive equipment, document the condition, schedule maintenance, and keep equipment service records.
  • \n
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • \n
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles, and assure the efficient, clean and safe fueling and oiling of equipment.
  • \n
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • \n
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • \n
  • Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
  • \n
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, and fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal.
  • \n
  • Safely dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • \n
  • Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent.
  • \n
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools.
  • \n
  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • \n
  • Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.
  • \n
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • \n
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • \n
  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • \n
  • As needed, assist equipment operators in completing daily equipment inspections prior to each use; assure safety policies concerning equipment operation.
  • \n
  • Assure that equipment leaving the job or warehouse is Job‐ready for the next assignment.
  • \n
  • May act as a lead and direct other professionals.
  • \n
  • May supervise work of others.
  • \n
  • May provide supervision, training development, and performance management of others.
  • \n
  • Identify and assess improvement opportunities and participate in continuous improvement efforts. May support, encourage and facilitate others to engage in continuous improvement activities.
  • \n
  • Participate in and/or lead all safety related processes and programs as requested. Engage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuries. Understand that no job is so important that your safety and that of your crew will be compromised. Watch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professional. If needed, use your stop work authority until the issue is resolved.

  • Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed.
  • \n
  • Participate in and/or lead all pre‐job work planning and safety discussions. Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazards.
  • \n
  • Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back‐up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens).
  • \n
  • Understand, support, and follow lockout tag out procedures. Attend site specific training and assure you follow all procedures as out lined in training.
  • \n
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • \n
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.

Minimum Qualifications
\n
    \n
  • At least 7 years of experience working as a Mechanic that is considered an A level Technician with a strong working knowledge of mechanics.
  • \n
  • At least 2 years experience working as a manager or supervisor.
  • \n
  • Must have working knowledge of industrial construction equipment, machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • \n
  • Unristristriced drivers license and clean MVR.
  • \n
  • Must have all necessary tools.
  • \n
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • \n
  • Position will require the possession of or obtaining a Class A CDL (within 6 months of hire).
  • \n
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
