What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment. Repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment that operates throughout the plant in order to maximize performance and limit downtime. Rebuild or repair components back to Vulcan's standards such as engines, transmissions, brakes, hammers, and differentials.
Inspect Equipment and Material. Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Perform repairs to address problems when necessary.
Handle and Move Objects. Handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools in a safe manner throughout the shop and plant.
Document and Record Information. Ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed on a daily and monthly basis regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form.
Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Experience. 3-5 years' experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred. Must be able to obtain DOT medical card.
Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of repairing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Must be self-motivated and work with limited supervision.
Flexibility. Overnight travel is required. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
Mechanical Skills. Must have knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance. Use and maintain specialty tools, torch, mics, calibers, and shop/ service truck cranes.
