Summary:

The YRMC Dialysis unit is a 5 Bay, including one isolation bay, dialysis suite that provides Hemodialysis needs to the acutely and chronically ill hospitalized patient. The dialysis unit prioritizes patient care coordination with the medical director and associated nephrologists, under direct on-site supervision by RN manager, to deliver safe, accurate treatments to this delicate patient population. The unit expects compassionate, comprehensive care to include assessment, monitoring, appropriate clinical judgment, counseling, education and advocacy of patients with compromised kidney health. The inpatient unit will collaborate appropriately with all departments, nephrologists, internists and ancillary support to achieve best clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Adheres to infection control protocols, including the sterilization of equipment and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Is Attentive to patient needs, providing compassionate care that addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of patient well-being. This includes welcoming the patient into the dialysis unit and participating in their treatment from start to finish.

Monitors the patient's vital signs to ensure treatment is progressing safely and effectively and documents accurately and timely in patients' medical record.

Reports to the nursing staff any concerns identified during treatment and responds promptly and effectively to emergency situations in the dialysis unit. Works closely with providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.

Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate interventions, including initiating emergency procedures if necessary.

Contributes to seamless department operations by ensuring adequate supply levels and equipment management.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements :

• High School Diploma/GED
• Licensed Nursing Assistant or Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician Advanced (CCHT-A). ***Must achieve Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) and certification from a dialysis technician program in accordance with Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and state requirements within 18 months of hire (with subsequent promotion to Hemodialysis Technician position.)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
