Arlington School is looking for a dynamic individual to teach high school history (grades 9-12) courses in a therapeutic day-school program. Teachers in this therapeutic day school (grades 9-12) provide differentiated instruction in selected academic subjects to meet the needs of students with a wide range of learning styles and abilities. Student : teacher ratio of 5:1 per classroom. Teachers work closely with clinical and milieu staff to ensure a safe and supportive school community. Teachers participate in the development of IEPs and provide instruction and accommodations to students as outlined in individualized educational plans in small class groupings.

We are looking for creative individuals with excellent communication skills who enjoy working as part of a team. Responsibilities include:

Effectively plan instruction and assessment.

Effectively manage and supervise the classroom environment

Promotion of high standards and expectations for students' achievement

Promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity

Manage and maintain materials, records, and classroom space

Qualifications

External qualifications:

Current Massachusetts license for either Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities 5-12, OR Teacher of History grades 8-12

Strong written and verbal communication,

Ability to work collaboratively with staff

Familiarity with Massachusetts Curriculum Framework

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 This title declares it to be the policy of the United States that discrimination on the ground of race, color, or national origin shall not occur in connection with programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance and authorizes and directs the appropriate federal departments and agencies to take action to carry out this policy.
