Responsible for the HIM departmental functions that support the process, maintenance and integrity of the legal medical record. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Essential Functions
Ensures medical record integrity, retention, confidentiality and timely completion in accordance with CMS, DNV, State/Federal laws and Medical Staff Policies Retrieves, preps and sorts medical record documents for scanning Accurately distributes documents in the EMR in accordance with established guidelines Performs indexing and quality assurance on all scanned documents Assures all faxed documents are processed into the EMR Analyzes and Re-Analyzes records when applicable for quantitative deficiencies toward record completion Assists with walk-in medical record requests when applicable Follows established birth certificate process and guidelines from state; completes and notarizes all birth certificate statements of paternity Follows departmental standard operating procedures (SOP) for each function in the HIM Department Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Education
High School graduate or GED required.

Experience/Training
Two (2) years clerical experience preferred. One (1) year electronic medical record experience preferred.

License/Certifications
None required

Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform specific functions when applicable. Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills required. Understanding of health care laws and regulations. Ability to work in a team environment or independently. Ability to problem solve, set priorities, plan and schedule workload to meet deadlines. Ability to adhere to assigned work schedule, perform overtime status when requested

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. This position requires working in an indoor, environmentally controlled environment when in the office.
