A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT

As a Personal Care Attendant, you arrive for each shift determined to treat your clients with respect and kindness. You do everything you can to provide the individualized physical, psychological, and social support that they need. Every client requires individual care based on their plan of care.

You monitor medications and provide reminders as well as assist with meal preparation and keep track of any dietary needs. You also assist with daily hygiene routines such as bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, and getting dressed. You can always plan on assisting with some housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and general home upkeep. You also promote safety in the home. At times, you run errands and provide transportation. Keeping accurate records for things such as food consumption is an important part of your job.

Your attention to detail and accuracy helps ensure the highest quality of care for our clients. You are careful about safeguarding client's personal belongings as well as being discreet with personal and private information. You are vigilant about reporting any changes in the condition of your clients to your supervisor to ensure that all their needs are properly met. Though this job may be challenging at times, your positive attitude, compassion, and patience ensure your success as a caregiver.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 year of experience as a Personal Care Attendant; CNA/HHA preferred but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation, auto insurance, and a clean driving record
  • Working cell phone and e-mail address
  • Ability to pass a thorough state and federal background check
