Histology Assistant - Lab

Under general supervision, following established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, the Histology Assistant is responsible for specimen handling, accessioning, billing, assisting Physicians with specimen retrieval, slide/block/specimen filing and retrieval for legal, treatment, and 2nd opinion purposes.

Includes assisting the Pathologists and Pathology Residents in performing autopsies on deceased of various age groups; performs housekeeping duties related to autopsies, morgue cooler, etc.

Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Autopsy experience is preferred.
• 1-3 months of on-the-job training and orientation.
• Excellent organizational and clerical skills. Computer skills a must.
