Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing laboratory specimens for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. Organizes and prepares incoming tissue specimens for analysis. Prepares slides, performs special staining techniques and other histological procedures in a timely manner and accurate manner according to laboratory policies and procedures. Ensures proper documentation required or any consent forms needed are submitted. Maintains files, slides and blocks accurately and in a retrievable manner. Maintains equipment, chemicals and reagents in areas assigned to them. Participates in QC, QA and maintenance programs and follows all safety procedures. Performs other related duties with minimum supervision. Assures timely and accurate charging of procedures performed. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience working in a Hospital Histology Lab preferred.
2. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. Associates Degree in laboratory related Science or structured on the job training upon hire.
