Position Summary: Performs laboratory specimen analysis, quality control, performance improvement. Performs and interprets standard, complex and specialized tests in the Histology department. Understands the scientific principles of laboratory testing as well as the technical, procedural and problem solving aspects of the Histology department. Exercises initiative and independent judgment in dealing with the broad scope of procedural and technical problems of the department. Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures. Assists in other laboratory departments as requested. Maintains awareness and complies with safety procedures and ethical standards of practice.

Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: 1 year experience as a Histotechnologist in a hospital based Histology department preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree from accredited Histotechnology program

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: HTL (ASCP) certified; Compliant with ASCP recertification requirements; Meets Federal requirements to perform high complexity testing.
