Position Summary

The Aerospace Hone Operator hones metal and assembled parts utilizing vertical and horizontal honing machines as well as hand held tools, to exacting tolerances and dimensions per engineering requirements. The position monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. The Aerospace Hone Operator works independently as a member of the assembly team to ensure productivity standards as well as daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly goals are achieved.

Work Schedule: Flexible - Hiring Manager is willing to assign either first shift (days) or second shift (nights). Both shifts are Mon-Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Sets up and operates vertical and horizontal honing machines, hone metal and assembled parts, tools, to exacting tolerances and dimensions per engineering requirements
  • Operates Hone machine controls to index parts and adjust machine for operational settings with minimal supervision, pulls tools and fixtures for setups and replace when complete
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
  • Determines sequence of operations, bore size required, and method of setup
  • Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Measure finished part with precision bore gauges (air and dial), calipers, fixed gauges, and micrometers
  • Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
  • Package and box detail assemblies per work orders and customer specifications to transport the product to the following operations (Quality, Partmark or Shipping)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent level of education
  • Completion of formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience preferred
  • Prior Hone experience desired
  • Familiar with Sunnen Hortizontal & Vertical Hone equipment or equivalent
  • Familiar with operating Hone machine controls to index parts and adjust machine for operational settings with minimal supervision
  • Familiar with PCC Assembly Processes and Procedures including applicable Business Quality Management System procedures as applicable - preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and apply basic math skills
  • Ability to accurately read Manufacturing Orders and drawings and verity quantities and Hone instructions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to operate precision measuring tools as required with minimal supervision. Measure finished part with precision bore gauges (air and dial), calipers, fixed gauges, and micrometers
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and write simple correspondence
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
  • Willingness to learn and, as required, help and/or train others

For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter .
