Description

  • Understand and plan lessons leading to subject area objectives.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Provide instruction to eligible students determined by appropriate Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee Meeting.
  • Establish a system of student evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate records for enrollment, attendance, and grading reports.
  • Identify and obtain all necessary instructional materials; Develop written lesson plans for substitutes
  • Provide instruction for eligible students based on their IEP.
  • Provide progress reports to referring school and/or facility.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned; All of these duties are allowable per the guidelines of the grant
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field; valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned.
  • Minimum of 6 credits in education for exceptional children.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current curriculum goals and instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Braille.
  • Demonstrated ability work with professional peers in a cooperative effort.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
