Set on a 34-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis. Sharing the campus is Gurwin's Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences) and Independent Senior Housing.

We are currently seeking a full-time Housekeeper who will be scheduled to work 8:00am-4:00pm with weekend availability.

The housekeeper will be responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness of Fountaingate Gardens community and residences. Ensures all community areas are kept in an orderly manner, clean, and disinfected to the standards of the community and under guidance from the Executive Director. Establishes and maintains the highest level of standard for community and residential cleanliness.

Essential Job Functions

Ø Maintains a professional manner, attitude, and dress at all times. Specifically maintaining a friendly and collaborative demeanor with peers, board members, applicants, guests, residents, and others.

Ø Communicates all information to interested parties, including inter-office, guests, vendors, or others. Must be able to maintain a discreet manner and approach with sensitive or confidential information.

Ø Accurately maintain all resident information while complying with confidentiality as per Gurwin Policy.

Ø Independently able to self-initiate job duties and functions while responding to immediate needs for the benefit of the community.

Ø Demonstrates high-level attention to detail with work completed, immediate workspace, and overall community presentation and cleanliness of all related areas.

Ø Promotes teamwork amongst all supervisory and peer team members while being a positive working environment culture leader.

Ø Performs general housekeeping duties in all community spaces including bathrooms, amenity spaces, and residential units.

Ø Cleans all community spaces as directed or assigned.

Ø Maintains all equipment and supplies needed while communicating defects immediately to the Lead Housekeeper/Director of Environmental Engineering.

Ø Follows all infection control policies while providing input as needed.

Ø Meets all training and on-going education requirements at all times.

Ø Assists in all other departments when needed or as applicable to job duties, to ensure overall resident satisfaction is met and maintained at all times.

Ø Able to manage multiple requests and tasks at a time with varying needs.

Ø Performs all other duties as requested or required.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications

Ø High School graduate or equivalent. Ability to understand and follow instructions while demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.

Ø Must be able to work varying hours and flexible to community needs.

Specific Requirements

Ø Complexity
Able to plan and prioritize work duties under the direction o the Director of Environmental Engineering while independently initiating all tasks and maintaining a high level of work in a fast-paced environment.

Ø Confidential Information
Constant contact with residents, guests, peers, and others requires the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. Must maintain a positive and productive, courteous, and cooperative manner at all times.
Will be exposed to highly confidential information, demonstrate confidentiality, and only disclose with the Lead Housekeeper/Director of Environmental Engineering or others specifically directed by the Executive Director.
Able to follow directives from administration or the supervisory team without close supervision.

Ø Safety
Requires ability to read, understand and follow community emergency procedures and all other safety rules, community policies, and regulations.

Ø Equipment
Must operate various levels of housekeeping equipment.

Ø Working Conditions
Clean, well-lighted residential and office environment. Varying levels of noise, activity, and possible interruption. May have exposure to odors, fumes, dust, and cleaning chemicals.

Physical Requirements

Ø Must be able to walk/stand for long periods, up to 90% of work time.

Ø Must be able to use telephone and computer for varying periods, up to 100% of work time.

Ø Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Ø Must be able to push and pull up to 200 pounds.

Ø Must be able to stand for varying durations.

Ø Must be able to twist, bend, and walk to maintain walkways and surrounding workspace.
