General Statement of Duties

HCPS OPPORTUNITY SCHOOLS

Starting in the 2023-24 school year, Henrico County Public Schools will designate select schools with high rates of vacant positions and provisionally licensed staff as Opportunity Schools through the HCPS Career Ladder. This is a new pathway within the Career Ladder through which entire schools, selected by HCPS, receive compensation supplements, additional staffing resources and specialized professional learning.

HCPS OPPORTUNITY SCHOOLS INFORMATION

  • HCPS Admin Internships are designed to give individuals a chance to experience and grow in the field of secondary school administration, while serving the disciplinary and instructional needs of the school community.
  • Admin Internships are not considered a permanent or guaranteed placement.
  • Successful candidates will receive an 11-month teacher contract.
  • Internships are one (1) to two (2) year annual assignments that conclude with a return to a 10-month teaching position and contract.
  • While in the role, administrative interns are strongly encouraged to apply for current administrative vacancies.
  • Administrative intern experience does not guarantee a position in administration.


Essential Duties

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will be required to actively support all aspects of the school's administrative and academic goals and be prepared to participate in all other duties as assigned by the principal.
  • As a normal function of their daily duties, the successful candidate should expect to cover and support all before and after school events, including evening activities.
  • The successful candidate will be involved in student behavioral management and discipline.


The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Three years of successful teaching.
  • Completed at least 12 hours in an administrative licensure program.
  • A Master's degree and endorsement in K-12 Administration are preferred.
  • This position is open to internal candidates only.


Additional Information

This vacancy is for the 2024-25 school year. This is a 239 Day assignment with a July 15, 2023 start date. T his position comes with a $3300 Opportunity School stipend.

Minimum annual starting salary:
    • $63,921.05 (Bachelors)
    • $66,989.42 (Masters).
