Job Summary

Responsible to direct the human resource and payroll activities within the facility including training and updating staff on company policies, procedures, and regulations.

General Human Resource Responsibilities

• Recruits staff members from job fairs, career days, nursing school, and other potential sources.

• Develops and implements local recruiting campaigns with the Administrator and Director of Nursing per approval.

• Screens, interviews, and recommends qualified applicants, as directed; conducts background and reference checks. This includes the administering of SOS and subsequent data entry of results into Profiles International.

• Provides general orientation to new employees according to company policy.

• Performs post-employment and exit interviews per policy.

• Review and respond within 24 hours to all unemployment claims ensuring that Personal Planners has all the necessary documentation as well as participate in associated hearings.

• Reviews and verifies employee's licenses, certifications, and Hepatitis B and TB records to ensure they are current per employee file policy.

• Ensures employee personnel files are complete and employee information is kept confidential.

• Implements measures which ensure compliance with EEO guidelines.

• Responds to employee complaints timely per employee complaint procedure.

• Advises department managers on proper procedures regarding progressive discipline and termination activity to ensure consistency in policy interpretation and application.

• Plans, organizes, and implements employee activities and approved employee recognition programs.

• Serves as an employee advocate.

• Ensure that all employee information is entered upon hire into Upstairs Solutions and is properly maintained.

• Organizes, tracks, and documents all State and Federal required in services while maintaining Upstairs Solutions inservice requirements.

• Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.

Safety Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and/or provides safety training and education for new and current employees on a yearly basis or as needs are determined by the facility.
  • Educate safety committee members of current and potential issues which increase risk for accidents and injuries during monthly meetings.
  • Performs regular, scheduled safety inspections. Performs weekly walk-through inspections of identified high-risk areas as determined by the Safety Committee.
  • Coordinates and chairs safety committee meetings monthly.
  • Investigates all reported work-related injuries within 24 hours of occurrence.
  • Notifies workers compensation provider, facility Administrator, and corporate office of all work-related injuries within 24 hours.
  • Review injured employee health status on a weekly basis. Monitors work related injury medical records and bills per facility protocol.
  • Coordinates return to work by indentifying potential job accommodation opportunities.
  • Maintain workers compensation files. Ensure that all pertinent information is collected including all physician information and return to work documentation.
  • Maintains OSHA log and ensure that it is current and up to date.
  • Coordinates and/or performs yearly OSHA training.


Payroll Responsibilities
  • Provide overall payroll support including data entry, answering payroll questions, and payroll close.
  • Ensure that the payroll system is updated with all salary, job, and personal information.
  • Review labor hours and overtime daily. Communicate with the appropriate department manager and facility Administrator any overtime or labor hour issues including departments that are in danger of exceeding their labor for the pay period.
  • Ensure that all payroll deductions are calculated and entered correctly.
  • Employee sick and vacation time are accrued and allocated on a timely basis.
  • Submit all wage garnishments and inquires to the corporate office within two business days of receipt.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll including all supporting documents and payroll tracker.
