Purpose of the Job
This position assists the Sheriff's Office (S.O.) in staffing vacant positions. The position provides consultation/information regarding County and S.O. policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to management and employees. The position is responsible for ensuring employee information in the Spillman System is established, maintained, and accurate. Other responsibilities include coordinating the S.O. employment testing program, assists with internal investigations and completes Personnel/Payroll Authorization forms.

Minimum Education/Directly Related Experience Required
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School Diploma or GED.
MINIMUM YEARS OF DIRECTLY RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Two (2) years experience ; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS REQUIRED/PREFERRED
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License if position duties require.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TIME SPENT
- Coordinates S.O. staffing process; screens applicants for minimum qualifications; processes S.O. applications; assists in creating applicant questions; schedules and participates in interviews; conducts criminal and employment background checks, records checks with law enforcement agencies; and FBI/DPS finger print clearance cards. Provides clerical support to Corrections Officer Retirement Plan (CORP) local retirement boards for Dispatch and Detention.

- Receives salary and hire date information from Human Resources Department and completes Personnel/Payroll Authorization forms ensuring that the information is submitted timely; prepares Personnel/Payroll Authorization forms for S.O. personnel actions including new hires, rehires, salary increases, terminations, etc.; resolves issues regarding actions with Bureau Commanders, Human Resources Department and Payroll Department.

- Prepares candidate offer letters and prints new hire packets; creates exit interview letters and processes termination materials.

- Performs accurate data entry into Spillman database.

- Maintains personnel, medical, and training files of S.O. staff. Coordinates and assists with Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ POST) audits.

- Coordinates S.O. pre-employment drug, psychological, medical, polygraph and Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) testing program; ensures accuracy and confidentiality of information; schedules testing appointments with applicants; monitors test results and advises administration, as necessary, of negative outcomes.

- Provides information on rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in response to questions or requests from S.O. employees, administration, or Bureau Commanders regarding staffing.
