Contract Length: 6 months

Manager Notes: (parking, travel, etc.) The contractor may be required to travel into the Jersey City office, as needed. Reimbursement for travel/parking will not be provided.

POSITION OVERVIEW/SUMMARY

The HR Manager (Consultant) provides direct support to the Head, Human Resources. Incumbent is responsible for managing HR-related special projects across a broad range of HR policies, processes, programs and initiatives and providing direct HR generalist support, as needed, to assigned business units. At any given time, the HR Consultant could be providing support in one or more HR functions including recruitment, performance and talent management, compensation and benefits, training and organizational development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project-based duties:
  • Reviews/revises HR policies and makes changes as needed to meet new Federal/state legal requirements, to promote a positive culture and/or to maintain industry competitiveness.
  • Ensures the organization is using best-in-class automated HR systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.). Researches available systems, contributes to a competitive selection process, develops an implementation plan, and manages manages software rollout/launch with IT team.
  • Leads (or supports) the development of engaging employee events that promote a positive work culture. Duties might include strategy and goal-setting and well as tactical event planning and logistics.
  • Continually reviews, recommends and wins buy-in to improve the organization's staffing program to be an Employer of Choice (e.g., employee referral program, recruitment metrics, etc.)
  • Leads or supports the continuous analysis and improvement of outcomes-based mandatory employee training programs such as new employee orientations.
  • Leads other special projects as assigned.
HR Generalist duties:
  • Maintains work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for assigned positions.
  • Counsels managers on candidate selection, conducts and analyzes exit interviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees.
  • Schedules conferences with employees, hears and resolves employee grievances, and counsels employees and supervisors.
  • Maintains accurate, auditable HR records.
  • Contributes to cohesiveness and teamwork within HR and the company at-large in the performance of all duties.

Reporting:

  • Reports directly to the Head, Human Resources


Managerial:

  • N/A.


Other:

  • Works cross-functionally and collaboratively throughout the organization, but particularly with assigned client groups to ensure seamless HR operations.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field? Master's Degree preferred.


Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience in multiple functions (staffing, compensation, etc.).
  • Consulting experience or HR experience in a project-based HR role is preferred.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven knowledge of broad HR processes, programs, policies and systems.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Good project management and multitasking skills; ability to juggle multiple projects, keeping them on-track with desired deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Collaborates effectively with colleagues in HR and other functional areas, and with external vendors, to achieve goals.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
