Job Summary/Basic Function

The Division of Student Affairs at Millersville University is seeking to hire an MSW student to serve as the Basic Needs Intern for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. This individual will report directly to the Vice President of Student Affairs and meet with undergraduate and graduate students who are having difficulty with basic needs while pursuing a degree at the University.

Required Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Comfort with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Research skills
• Willingness to collaborate across campus and in the community
• Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in field of study related to mission of student affairs and student support
• Interest in issues around supporting the basic needs of students in our community
• Familiarity with content creation for social media and print materials

Job Duties

• Be familiar with basic needs resources on campus and in the greater Lancaster community.
• Meet with undergraduate and graduate students to provide them with information on campus and community basic needs resources including food, housing, clothing, and health care.
• Create, lead, and participate in events and tabling for students that provide information on campus and community basic needs resources.
• Serve on the Basic Needs Taskforce for the University.
• Serve on the Family Friendly Campus Taskforce for the University.
• Assist with the submission of the annual PA Hunger Free Campus Grant Application.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Most of the work will take place in an office setting. Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Some lifting, stretching, and moving of supplies is required.
