Summary

Embark on a fulfilling career as a Supervisor, Husbandry Operations in the newly developed Comparative Medicine Core (CMC) at Moffitt Cancer Center. Comparative Medicine Core oversees and supports Moffitt's animal research and technical support. We are looking to hire an experienced Supervisor to join our team and ensure the professional husbandry and care of a variety of laboratory animals.

Position Highlights:


  • Oversees the research animal care technicians ensuring the highest levels of care.



The Ideal Candidate:


  • Supervisory experience.

  • Computer and data entry skills.

  • Experienced in animal care.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.

  • Exhibit professional behavior in speaking with all staff.

  • Ability to work overtime and on weekends/holidays as required.

  • Must be able to be on feet and moving all day.

  • Exhibit professional behavior in speaking with all staff.



Responsibilities:


  • Oversight of Research Animal Care Technicians (multiple levels).

  • Assist in writing standard operating procedures and training material.

  • Oversees maintenance of equipment in animal rooms.

  • Reviews record keeping and ensuring all departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Supports training for all new hires and any needed re-training.

  • Assists with scheduling.



Credentials and Qualifications -


  • Associates degree plus 5 years of animal care experience required.




  • *In lieu of an associate's degree, high school diploma with seven (7) years of animal care related experience may be considered.




  • LAT certification through AALAS required;




  • LATG certification through AALAS preferred (LATG Certification required within 2 years of hire).




  • 3 years' experience in a research animal facility is preferred.

  • Supervisory experience.
