Insight Global is looking for a HV Test Engineers for our Hardware Testing team. As a High Voltage (HV) battery pack cycling test engineer, you will work with a passionate and multi-disciplinary group of engineers while learning how to build and use hardware, firmware, and software solutions to validate battery cells and battery packs. This role influences the design, quality and process of the battery cell and pack. We are interested in diverse candidates with relevant experience, but we will prioritize curious and driven engineers with strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Some job responsibilities:
Design, build, automate, and maintain equipment and software infrastructure for battery pack electrical cycling
Investigate test failures to drive product development and test improvement
Work with battery cell engineers, reliability scientists, material scientists, quality, and process to generate test plans
Execute pack-level validation testing and debug pack-level and test equipment issues
Analyze, document, and present test results to cross-functional teams and leadership
Build and maintain data pipelines and data visualization tools
Manage and prioritize test setups, test articles, and technician work

This role can pay between $130k-$170k depending on years of experience and skillset.

Required Skills & Experience

Engineering degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
4-8+ years of experience with an object-oriented coding language and scripting (Python, Rust, etc.)
Basic understanding of embedded system, battery cells, statics, measurement and instrumentation, mechanics of materials, and linear circuits
4-8+ years of experience working with hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment safely
Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, DAQs, and power supplies

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with high voltage systems, high power applications, and safe working practices
Experience building data pipelines, web applications, data visualizations
Experience with developer tools - e.g. Jenkins
Formal or informal experience with one or more of the following:
o Automotive components or systems, or vehicles in general
o Physical testing and analysis of mechanical, thermal, or electrical systems
o Any form of automation or mechatronics systems (manufacturing, robotics, testing, personal hobbies, etc.)
o Interdisciplinary project team (e.g., FSAE or other project)
Experience leading, and driving technical projects to completion, especially when multiple teams input and buyoff are required
One or both of the following:
o Ability to develop or experience developing infrastructure for high power battery applications
o Experience with qualifying and testing battery cells; knowledge of battery cell failure modes and failure analysis techniques
