HVAC Specialist I
MR06 - Starting rate dependent on candidate qualifications and experience.
Duties, skills and abilities;
The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities which includes buildings, grounds, and utility systems. We are searching for a qualified HVAC Specialist. The HVAC Specialist, under general supervision installs, maintains, adjusts, overhauls, and repairs refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. The HVAC Specialist will assist the HVAC Foreman and other mechanics in the performance of their assigned duties. They will also provide support to other areas within Facilities services as requested and needed. The HVAC Specialist will assist in evaluating the needs of each system to maintain critical heating and cooling systems on campus. This position also includes reading blueprints and wiring schematics; maintaining records and preparing reports on repairing or servicing. The position may require overtime, and responds to emergencies as needed to ensure that systems and equipment are in proper working order.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to understand standard equipment operating and handling safety protocols.
Mechanical knowledge and skills to service and repair HVAC systems and related equipment.
Ability to maintain a good leave record.
Ability to follow given instructions and keep records.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
Valid Tennessee Driver's License
High school diploma or GED
3+ years' experience or trade school and experience. (Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.)
Applicant must have EPA refrigerant handling certificate. Applicant must have knowledge of safe work practices, be in good physical health, and able to perform moderately strenuous work activities. Applicant must be able and willing to work extra hours when needed and to be on call for emergency response when called.
