What you will be doing:

    • Assisting with ODOT's responsibilities related to its contractors (the companies ODOT hires to build roads and bridges).
    • Helping ODOT's contractors fulfill their computer-based reporting requirements via email and phone.
    • Participating in and learning about the functions of a state agency.

Official Position Description:

In the Division of Opportunity, Diversity & Inclusion, Office of Business & Economic Opportunity, works with & assists program staff to perform program functions in accordance with standard operating procedures (e.g., reviews Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) utilization plans & affirmation forms, tracks payments to DBE firms, reviews efforts of contractors to fulfill DBE utilization plans, reviews subcontracts for adherence to minimum requirements, reviews DBE material suppliers for compliance with standards). Uses computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, & PowerPoint) to write internal & external communication (e.g., emails, letters) & keep accurate records in spreadsheets & databases.

Provides customer support for users of civil rights & labor management information system (e.g., processes onboarding requests, analyzes & troubleshoots payroll submissions); answers the phone, responds to email inquiries, & communicates with contractors. Utilizes personal computer (PC) & related software (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel) to perform various duties (e.g., creates &/or updates spreadsheets & reports, drafts correspondence, & tracks customer support activities). Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the student's field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student's education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.
