Based on job duties, this position is designated as telework eligible on a hybrid basis (i.e., working at least 3 days per week in the office); the selected applicant must complete the initial training period prior to being eligible to telework. All requests to telework are reviewed and must be approved by ODOTs Chief Human Resources Officer.

  • Develop new custom applications in the ServiceNow Platform
  • Develop new portals and catalog items in the ServiceNow Platform
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects in existing ServiceNow applications and catalog items

Official Position Description:

Reads, writes, extracts &/or reports from individual file(s); creates &/or modifies existing program modules (i.e., the creation of static content or graphics related to web-design is not software development); complies with software reusability guidelines; uses report generators, data manipulation tools, data query tools, program tracing/debugging tools, software development tools & versioning tools as required; learns & acquires new skills via training, seminars, self-directed study, research of published materials, etc.; applies development process.

Writes test cases &/or scripts for unit & systems testing with minimal to no supervision; creates or sets-up test data for performing test scenarios; executes unit test scripts & assists in executing system test scripts independently; verifies & documents unit & system test results to ensure software is producing desired results; debugs & revises programs when unit & system tests do not produce desired results.

Assists in gathering system requirements; defines & documents current &/or future business process flows; assists in developing future process flows; gathers & analyzes facts; defines problems; assists in developing potential solutions; identifies & develops software

Assists higher-level software developers in the development of application related training materials & software user-guides; creates &/or modifies necessary program &/or application source code documentation (e.g., use cases, in-line code comments) in accordance with agency standards; assists in records &/or reports development lifecycle activities; learns to develop & document appropriate standards & criteria for acceptable programming, documentation, & systems development lifecycle activities.

Communicates with peers & others; performs software development tasks per verbal instructions; asks questions, listens to & processes answers in order to exchange technical information in support of software development; obtains information on focused technical tasks involving database, infrastructure, & application information; leads focused discussions with technical topics in support of software development; conveys information compiled from a variety of sources to technical & non-technical personnel &/or management; summarizes, in writing, information on a specific topic in support of software development.

Promotes system security & awareness by adhering to the Agency's &/or State's IT security policy(s) & standards. Researches, reads, understands, & applies relevant techniques & procedures from data processing manuals to complete duties timely & efficiently; assists in supporting user acceptance testing; performs software implementation tasks, including source control & deployment activities. Receives orientation related to mentorship & applies as necessary (e.g., definition, purpose, strategies, & evaluation techniques).

Qualifications

36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.

-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
