We have an exciting opportunity to for a Hypervelocity Impact Test Engineer to join our team!

The Hypervelocity Impact Test Engineer will:
  • Work with internal and external NASA customers to execute hypervelocity impact testing campaigns
  • Develop impact test program plans based on customer requirements
  • Conduct test readiness reviews with program stakeholders
  • Coordinate impact test schedules and priorities with customers and remote test facilities
  • Monitor and report daily status of impact testing activities
  • Perform post-test damage analysis of impacted test samples
  • Deliver written reports documenting results of impact test programs
  • Present work products to customers and counterparts (written & verbal)
  • Support and participate in technical interchange meetings
  • Support other activities within the Hypervelocity Impact Technology (HVIT) Group as needed


Requisition Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Must be willing to travel to remote test facilities as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to generate technical reports and presentations

Requisition Preferences:
  • Experience working with hypervelocity impact testing on two-stage light gas guns
  • Experience developing and coordinating engineering test programs
  • Working knowledge of digital cameras, photo capture techniques, and digital editing software

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
