This is an hourly/wage position and is not entitled to the Commonwealth of Virginia's state benefits package. This position is limited to no more than 1500 hours in a 12-month period and averages no more than 29 hours a week.

The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is currently seeking a part-time ICPC Program Consultant in our Division of Family Services. This position is responsible for managing an ICPC caseload to ensure the safety of youth in foster care and public and private adoption and transfer residential placement paperwork to the Local Department of Social Services (LDSS) and various states timely and accurately. This incumbent will also conduct ICPC training with LDSS staff, courts, private attorneys and other partners. The program effectiveness is determined by the number of children in one of the above mentioned categories who move into Virginia and the number of children who move from Virginia to other states. This position is also responsible for forwarding the paperwork that will allow these children to move into a safe, secure, and stable placement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Considerable social work practice in a local department of social services.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply federal and state policies and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of local agency organizational structure and practices.
  • Experience working with customers and resolving complex issues.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with a variety of different team members and audiences.
  • Experience with case management.
  • Understanding of racial disparity and inequality.
Additional Considerations
  • Experience and knowledge working with ICPC.
  • Understanding of Kinship practices.
