Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is hiring for Immigration Support Coordinator, International Affairs Responsible for maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitors Information System (SEVIS) database and the immigration case databases. Responsible for the reporting requirements of all three databases. Position will assist the SEVIS effort in processing immigration documents related to passports, visas, employment authorizations, changes in legal status, and transfers to and from other academic institutions. Monitors all F and J (students and scholars) visa holders records, assists with international student onboarding and orientation, and assists with the English as a Second Language (ESL) Conversations Program data input and record management.

Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or directly related field and three (3) years of work experience in higher education in the United States and/or experience working with SEVIS as it pertains to F and J visa holders or relevant work experience.
  • Must possess U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, as mandated by federal regulations. May consider additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
Preferred:

Master's degree in Student Personnel Services, Student Affairs, or related field.

Job Duties
  • Maintains the Student and Exchange Visitors Information System (SEVIS) database and provides reports as needed.
  • Input data and maintain the Immigration Case Tracker and Immigration Student and Scholar Management database and provide quality control management.
  • Monitors and tracks student immigration status and maintain immigration records and USCIS documents.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of International Student onboarding and orientation, Optional Practical Training workshops, and cross-cultural activities.
  • Assists in processing immigration documents related to passports, visas, employment authorizations, changes in legal status, and transfers to and from other academic institutions.
  • Assists with establishing and updating departmental policies and procedures to assure compliance with DHS/USCIS.
  • Reviews immigration e-forms, and check-in documents for new students, scholars, and faculty.
  • Prepares required reports on international students and employees for various government agencies.
  • Assists in the preparation of DHS/USCIS/SEVIS documents requested and required for F-1 Students and J-1 Students and Scholars.
  • Serves as a DSO/ARO and performs low-level DSO/ARO tasks, as needed.
  • Assists with establishing and updating departmental immigration policies and procedures to assure compliance with DHS/USCIS.
  • Serves as resource for all UTSW members and affiliates regarding visa matters and assist in responding to immigration/visa related questions and resolving issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
