Under the general supervision of the Director, Perioperative Business Operations, the Procurement Supervisor I (Implant Supervisor) is expected to be self-directed using appropriate judgment. Guidance from standards and policies as well as Human Resources are available when needed.

The Procurement Supervisor I (Implant Supervisor) is responsible for managing the day-to-day implant procurement operations across UCLA Westwood and Santa Monica campuses. The Implant Supervisor will oversee a team of Implant Coordinators (Procurement Analyst IIIs) and will be accountable for the following:
  • Implant Procurement and Inventory Management : Supervise implant procurement operations across five facilities, ensuring adherence to departmental procedures and business practices. Responsibility areas include: securing inventory, replenishing owned and consigned implants, procuring special-order implants and/or loaner-trays or instruments, and validating accurate billing. Collaborate with vendors, surgeons, nursing, charge posting, facility unit leadership, and procurement and strategic sourcing teams to resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Tissue Management: Ensure UCLA Health's compliance with state, federal, and accredited body licensing rules and regulations for tissue procurement, storage, distribution and reporting. Serve as a management/regulatory resource for implant/tissue matters across five sites
  • Staff Management: Conduct staff selection, training, performance management, discipline, and evaluations. Supervise a team of implant coordinators and provide coverage for: call-outs, paid time off (PTO), Holiday, or leave of absence (LOA)
  • Policy Enforcement: Collaborate with implant coordinators, facility unit leadership, and procurement and strategic sourcing teams to enforce standards, protocols, policies, and regulations
  • Performance Improvement : Assess ongoing people, process, and technology issues within daily implant operations. Convene improvement teams to design and implement solutions and lead efforts to standardize processes across sites
