Title: Indirect Tax Accountant

Duration: Contract-to-hire

Location: Marietta, GA (onsite 3x per week)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • Assist organization with unclaimed property matters, including review of books and records to identify unclaimed property items
  • Upload, review, track and report unclaimed items using 3rd party software
  • Organize and maintain electronic tax records according to tax department procedures and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Compile and analyze information and supporting documentation to satisfy information document requests issued by tax auditors
  • Maintain the tax audit log for tracking audits in progress and other relevant data on tax audits
  • File assigned indirect tax returns timely (Multi-state sales & use, alcohol excise, and other transaction taxes)
  • Consolidate and prepare tax compliance data for internal purposes and outsourcing firm.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger tax & unclaimed property accounts

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred, three or more years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. Talking to others to convey information effectively.

Mathematical Skills: The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem. The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.

Reasoning Ability: The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with intermediate level skill with Excel.
